Dragon’s Dogma 2 developer Capcom has released a new title update for the game, adding a long-awaited graphics option that should help with framerate issues.
The fantasy role-playing sequel, which released earlier this year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series This problem has haunted Dragon’s Dogma 2 since launch, despite several updates released since then.
With the release of this new update (see the patch notes below) comes a fix for CPU overload issues in certain situations (this was attributed to Dragon’s Dogma 2’s frame rate issues). Capcom said this should improve frame rates in areas with lots of NPCs.
Meanwhile, the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S versions now have the option to change the graphics settings to high/low. Turning the graphics settings down “should further improve the frame rate,” Capcom said. Players on Steam can already achieve the same results by changing their graphics settings. “Further frame rate improvements are also planned for future updates,” Capcom added.
Also on the console is the option to toggle 120Hz output. “If your monitor supports 120Hz output, enabling it may make the game display smoother,” Capcom said, before warning: “This setting does not guarantee 120fps.”
A number of other improvements have been made to Dragon’s Dogma 2 with this update, including the welcome addition of being able to sell items via the save menu. The maximum number of items of one type that can be put into storage is increased from 99 to 999. It should now also become easier to find oxcarts in the field.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 arrived more than a decade after its predecessor and turned out to be a monster hit for publisher Capcom Despite controversyselling 2.5 million copies in 11 days microtransaction and the performance complaints.
In our 8/10 ratingIGN said: “Dragon’s Dogma 2 is more of a rehash than a sequel. It’s a weird and wonderful action RPG that amplifies the strengths of the original without addressing its weaknesses.”
