Every sandwich, wrap and salad pulled from shelves due to E.coli fears – see list

A huge number of sandwiches, wraps and salads are being recalled due to the worsening E.coli outbreak.

In the latest outbreak, 211 cases have been confirmed so far, with at least 67 people requiring hospital treatment.

Some of Britain’s biggest retailers, including Aldi, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, have been forced to issue recalls.

Health officials are working to track down the source of the outbreak, especially because this strain can make people very sick. Customers are urged not to eat the products, but to return them to the store for a refund.

The Food Standards Agency has issued a warning to inform consumers of the recall of the items, most of which are pre-packed salad leaf sandwiches.

Darren Whitby, incident head at the watchdog, said: “Sandwich makers are taking a precautionary step to recall several sandwiches, wraps and salads in response to findings from investigations by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), Food Standards Scotland (FSS) and UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), who are working to identify the source of an ongoing outbreak caused by Shiga toxin-producing E.coli (Stec).”
