This beautiful converted chapel for sale on Anglesey in Wales has one striking feature that estate agents have failed to mention and has left social media users guessing
House hunters have been left in stitches after spotting a converted chapel for sale – with a glaring omission from the estate agent’s description: a giant hole in the living room floor.
The one-bedroom property on the picturesque island of Anglesey in north-west Wales has a charming facade with large windows that flood the space with natural light. But the bizarre feature, a hole covered by a glass panel, has sparked a flood of online comments with potential buyers coming up with their own hilarious theories about what it could be, including some more bizarre guesses such as a portal to hell.
On the market for £210,000 and a Grade II listed building. Once a chapel, it is located in the hamlet of Coedana and has “breathtaking, unobstructed views of the countryside and the Eryri National Park.” Agents Williams & Goodwin said: “Having been extensively renovated to a high standard, the property lends itself really well as a turnkey property.”
It added: “It’s not often that a property with this charm and character becomes available and we highly recommend you view early! Located in Coedana on the outskirts of Llannerch-Y Medd with its local shop, post office, primary school and cafes. Real estate really has a lot to offer.
Quickly connecting to nearby towns such as Llangefni and Amlwch for further amenities including supermarkets and leisure facilities. Greeted in the main hallway which leads into the open plan lounge and kitchen and then into the rear lobby and ground floor shower room. The first floor landing gives access into living/sleeping accommodation, with an attic room on the second floor.”
However, the images of the house clearly show the glass-covered hole in the living room, which is not mentioned in the advertisement at all. One user shared the images on a Reddit thread called “Where does the hole go?” saying, “I found this property. I like it a lot, but I’m curious why they don’t show or even acknowledge the hole in the floor. Where does it go and what’s in it?”
Other users clicked to jump into the comments and share their experiences, with one user suggesting it could be: ‘The Moon Door’, referring to the hit TV show Game of Thrones, to which another replied: ‘This is the only possible answer. “
One joked: “It’s a converted chapel so clearly the window was down to see the hellfire and brimstone that awaited any pagans,” followed by another who thought it could be a “Snake Pit” . A few users thought the hole could be an underground chamber or vault under a church, used for funerals, with one saying: “I wondered if it was a crypt as it was an old chapel” said another, while one person agreed, adding, “I was hoping the old crypt would be pretty cool to own.”
Other users were keen to help the original poster by suggesting some more logical and realistic ideas. “Looks like it could be a well,” said one person, and someone else replied, “Yes, it will be an original well that has been covered with glass as an added bonus. We have one at my workplace,” replied another . ‘Well, well, well. Well, I never did that,” someone said hilariously. And another simply replied: “Nice. Free water!”
