Samsung will launch the company’s next set of smartwatches at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, taking place on July 10, 2024. It will include three models: the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and the Galaxy Watch FE. Now, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has certified the three upcoming wearables.
According to various leaks, we know that the Galaxy Watch 7 will have four variants, SM-L300, SM-L305, SM-L310, and SM-L315, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will have one variant, SM-L705F, and the Galaxy Watch FE will also have one variant, SM-R861. Well, the Bureau of Indian Standards has just certified these six models (via 91Mobiles).
It suggests that Samsung is preparing to launch the three smartwatches in India. This isn’t surprising considering Samsung has launched all the smartwatches it has recently launched in the Indian market. However, the certification gives us confirmation. The brand could launch the three wearables in India immediately after their global launch.
Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will have much faster processors
According to a recent leak, the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra will feature a chipset with five CPU cores and a 3nm manufacturing process. So, theoretically, the two smartwatches should be much faster and more energy efficient compared to Samsung’s current smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which have a chipset with a quad-core CPU and 5nm manufacturing process.
The Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will feature dual-frequency L1+L5 GPS. For comparison, the Galaxy Watch 6 series models have single-frequency GPS. So, the upcoming wearables will be able to more accurately track outdoor activities such as walking, running and cycling. In addition, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra will have 32 GB of storage space. Current models have 16 GB of storage.
A stronger case and a brighter screen will be part of the package
The Galaxy Watch 7 will be made from Armor Aluminum 2 material, the next and presumably stronger version of Armor Aluminum that Galaxy Watch 6 models are made of. The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra will feature an even tougher material, Titanium Grade 4, similar to Apple Watch Ultra 2. Both the Watch 7 and Watch Ultra will feature sapphire crystal protection on the display, similar to current models.
The story continues after the video…
The Galaxy Watch Ultra will also have a water resistance of 10 ATM. As for the display, the Galaxy Watch 7 will have a display with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, similar to the Galaxy Watch 6 series models, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra will have a display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, the same as the Apple Watch Ultra 2. We recently got to see what the Galaxy Watch Ultra looks like, you can view the renders here.
The Galaxy Watch 7 will be available in 40mm and 44mm sizes and in Wi-Fi and mobile only variants. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will only be 47mm in size and only as a mobile model. Overall, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will have a stronger chassis, faster performance, a brighter display, longer battery life, and more accurate workout tracking compared to the Galaxy Watch 6 series models.
What about the Galaxy Watch FE?
The Galaxy Watch FE will be based on the Galaxy Watch 4 and, like the Apple Watch SE, will be an affordable smartwatch. At this point, that’s all we know about the Galaxy Watch FE. Hopefully we’ll know more about the upcoming affordable wearable as we get closer to the Galaxy Unpacked event.
At the event, Samsung will also launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which offer massive improvements over their predecessors.
