NEAS statement in full

A spokesperson for NEAS said:

“We were called shortly after 1.15am this morning to a traffic incident on Stamfordham Road, Newcastle.

“We dispatched two double-staffed ambulances, a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader and two vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team. One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.”

North East Ambulance Service confirmed a road traffic incident shortly after 1.15am, with one person taken to the RVI in Newcastle for further treatment.
