Do you have a Canon EOS R camera? Then there is probably a new firmware update waiting for you. Canon has just released a plethora of firmware for cameras including the EOS R6 Mark II, R8, R7, R10 and R50, as well as the EL-5 Speedlite.
Firmware is critical to ensuring that older cameras continue to run smoothly with newer lenses and equipment as they come to market, eliminating annoying bugs that can crop up in the software and delivering improvements in camera and lens performance that Canon developed behind the scenes. scenes.
It’s great to see camera companies committed to supporting cameras long after they’ve been released. While we’re not quite at Apple’s level yet in terms of ongoing updates, it’s reassuring to know that your brand new camera might get even more exciting features in the future, with huge new features like the Canon EOS’s 400MP pixel shift R5 via a firmware update.
This round of firmware updates doesn’t add any spectacular features, but it does fix some known issues with Canon cameras, as well as more features for working with flashes and transferring images from FTP.
You can find the firmware for your camera or Speedlite on the appropriate product page on Canon’s support site. Here’s an overview of each update…
