LIVE: Major road closed by police outside Asda with forensic tent in place

A main road in Salford was closed by police this morning following a serious incident. Great Cheetham Street East Broughton Village was closed after an incident in the early hours.

Police attended the scene and blocked the road in both directions, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed. The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed, but a spokesperson confirmed that the Serious Crash Unit (SCIU) is investigating.



The road was closed from the junction with Bury New Road to Leicester Road, outside the Asda supermarket. Photos show a large police scene with a forensic tent in the middle of the road.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for further information. The road reopened at 9am.

According to reports, the incident happened in the early morning hours

People living near the scene of the accident on Great Cheetham Street East said it happened around 1.30am. The incident is believed to have been a serious accident.
