The references provided by a Artists at Bethesda appear to confirm the rumors about the location of Elder Scrolls 6, as they quickly blocked their Pinterest account.
Shortly after his interest in gardening led to the creation of the Pikmin franchise, Nintendo star Shigeru Miyamoto was reportedly banned from publicly discussing his hobbies, lest he drop hints about a future game.
It’s also a wise precaution, as fans often go to great lengths to uncover secrets about upcoming releases, such as by tracking international shipping manifests to learn more about the Switch 2.
It’s certainly not just Nintendo fans, though. Fans of The Elder Scrolls seem to have found some pretty clear evidence of where the upcoming new game is set, as evidenced by references pinned to Pinterest by an artist from Bethesda Game Studios.
When the artist realized that people were watching him, he quickly blocked the account and set it to private, which underscores how the images he highlighted gave a huge clue as to what he was up to.
According to fans on Reddit, the artist’s account was originally a mix of sci-fi and fantasy images, with the former slowly disappearing from their feed. This implies that they were working on Starfield, but had recently moved on to The Elder Scrolls 6.
The most recent images, before the account was made private, featured African-looking clothing and weapons, and a number of different male models of African descent. This was in addition to various desert and jungle settings, as well as underwater photography of schools of fish.
Elder Scrolls fans know exactly what that means: the fictional land of Hammerfell, home to the Redguard. The Redguard have been part of The Elder Scrolls since the beginning and are always depicted as dark-skinned, with the varied landscapes of Hammerfell being an analogy for Africa.
Each new mainline game in the Elder Scrolls series is set in an existing area of the fictional world of Tamriel and is named after it. As early as 2020, it was rumored that Hammerfell and nearby High Rock would be the setting for the new game.
So far, there is no evidence for this. Earlier rumors may have been based on the fact that Hammerfell is one of the few major countries that does not have its own game yet.
It came close, though, with the 1998 action adventure spin-off The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard. Unfortunately, both this and the spin-off Battlespire were huge flops and quickly forgotten.
While the images aren’t definitive proof, it now seems very likely that the new game will be called The Elder Scrolls 6: Hammerfell. Although it’s still a mystery when it will be released or properly revealed.
The only other rumor is that the game will span all of Tamriel, but that seems unlikely given the amount of work that would entail and the fact that The Elder Scrolls Online already exists.
