I know this kind of thing isn’t normally our thing, but Prime Day 2024 has brought us some amazing discounts on all sorts of tech gadgets. From coffee makers to laptops, air fryers to headphones.
So here I have rounded up the five best tech deals (non-gaming) that I spotted in the UK during my search for Prime Day deals and spreadsheets. Hopefully you can find something here!
Ninja Double Stack XL Airfryer – £210 (was £270)
Okay, this might seem like an odd place to start, but let me explain. This Ninja Double Stack XL air fryer is the latest and greatest option from the big brand, and has been pretty resistant to discounts so far, with the price slashed by £60.
I’ve been a long-time user of Ninja’s air fryers in the past, and they’ve impressed with their range of useful features, excellent cooking performance and smart looks. The Double Stack XL has both of those in spades, especially in this Amazon Exclusive black and copper colourway that’s been discounted . It has a total capacity of 9.5 litres across two equally sized baskets, and with the included racks inside, it can cook up to four different types of food at once. It has a number of useful functions too, such as the classic Air Fry, as well as Roast, Bake, Dehydrate and Ninja’s own Max Crisp mode, which, with a maximum temperature of 240 degrees C, is handy for getting chips or breaded items super crispy.
The big thing here is also the fact that this is Ninja’s first stacked air fryer – that is, one where the baskets sit on top of each other, rather than side by side. This saves on countertop space, which is a godsend if your kitchen is on the small side like mine. It manages to do this while being only slightly taller than the brand’s own AF400UK – their classic large, dual zone option – so it will still fit underneath your kitchen cabinets.
Sony WH-1000XM4 – £180 (was £350)
For a capable pair of wireless noise cancelling headphones at nearly half the price, look no further than this deal on the Sony WH-1000XM4. These have been industry-leading headphones with ANC for a number of years now, and getting them at this low price is a steal.
The XM4s offer best-in-class noise cancellation that essentially envelops you in silence, allowing you to focus on what you’re listening to without being distracted by external noise, whether it’s people chatting, the roar of a train ride and so on. There are multiple levels to choose from within Sony’s companion app, as well as a Transparency mode that you can quickly activate to carry on conversations or be more aware of your surroundings. There’s even an optional Speak to Chat feature that automatically pauses playback and engages Transparency mode when you start speaking.
In terms of audio, the XM4s offer a good low-end punch with a robust bass response, while also delivering a smooth mid-range and detailed top-end. Add to this the convenience of a 30-hour battery life, a foldable chassis (notably missing from the newer XM5 model), some soft padding that makes the XM4s extremely comfortable, and a handy travel case, and you have a brilliant set of wireless headphones for travel and all sorts of other things.
Sage Nespresso Creatista Plus – £265 (was £480)
The Sage Nespress Creatista Plus is a damn good pod coffee machine that also has the added bonus of an integrated milk frother. There aren’t many machines that use pods that also have this as an option, making the Creatista Plus an excellent choice.
It also features a handy display on top to guide you through the process of making a cup of coffee and turning your favourite Nespresso espresso into a flat white, latte or whatever you fancy. The brushed stainless steel finish also looks sublime and in line with Sage’s other machines it should be pretty well built.
Apple M2 13.3-inch MacBook Air – £849 (was £999)
If you’re looking to pick up a MacBook with a hefty price cut this Prime Day, the 13.3-inch M2-powered MacBook Air is now available for £849 at Amazon . That’s £150 off the usual £999 list price and you’re getting a superb creative laptop for a lot less.
This MacBook Air features the M2 chip, which is plenty beefy at eight CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, and it’s a powerful option for video editing that outperforms even the fastest Intel-based Mac desktops and laptops. It’s only a modest upgrade over the M1, but it’s still faster, and you’ll benefit most from it if you’re upgrading from an Intel-based MacBook.
This M2 MacBook Air also comes with a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display that should offer accurate colours as well as a particularly vibrant experience, while the base spec 256GB SSD inside gives you a decent amount of space to store apps. The 8GB of RAM inside might not be enough for other laptops, but the efficiency of the M2 chip and macOS in general means it’s still viable. In terms of battery life, Apple says this MacBook Air should last for up to 18 hours on a single charge, which should give you decent stamina for a few work days away from the charger.
Apple AirPods Pro 2 – £179 (was £229)
And finally, the deal for you – the Apple AirPods Pro 2 – an excellent pair of noise cancelling earbuds with a sleek look, comfortable fit and great ANC, have had £50 knocked off their price for Prime Day. They were £229, but are now £179.
The big thing with the second-gen models is their improved ANC, with Apple claiming that it now offers twice the active noise cancellation as the previous model. The cancellation is excellent, and it makes the AirPods Pro 2 a fantastic pair of earbuds for on the go.
Additionally, this second-generation model also features a warmer sound profile with extended bass, great accuracy, and solid imaging. Much of the work here is handled by Apple’s new H2 chipset, which features a series of custom amplifiers and drivers in the name of offering audio that’s a vast improvement over the original AirPods Pro model. There’s also support for Spatial Audio with these earbuds, offering a more immersive experience with supported music, as well as movies and TV shows.
In addition to offering that new H2 chipset for better audio, the second-gen AirPods Pro also bring with them some handy quality of life features over the first-gen model, with an improved battery life (up to six hours) and a case that also supports Apple’s U1 chip, bringing the power of the ‘Find My’ functionality to your earbuds. The case itself, like the earbuds themselves, is IPX4 water resistant, meaning they can handle light splashes of water – handy for when it rains or you’re at the gym, deep in a workout.
So, there you have it – that’s a bunch of fantastic Prime Day deals on some non-gaming tech that I’ve spotted today. If you want to grab one, feel free, but for everything else, check out the plethora of other Prime Day items we’ve got.
