The First Descendant is a new free-to-play epic that has just arrived on consoles. It has quickly gained a huge player base, and fans can expect to see a lot more between now and the end of the year. While players are largely enjoying the core experience of TFD, First Descendant fans are divided over whether Nexon should add a controversial option to punish bad players.
As mentioned, there’s a lot to look forward to from TFD between now and the end of the year. The First Descendant 2024 roadmap reveals all the upcoming new content, including the release date for new playable character Luna. Additionally, the devs confirmed the upcoming addition of matchmaking for public Infiltration Operation (Dungeon) on Hard Mode.
It’s clear that the developer is listening to fan feedback to improve the game. One of the biggest complaints within the community is poor player counts, and fans are divided on whether Nexon should add a voice-to-kick option.
First Descendant fans divided over vote for resignation option
On the subreddit The First Descendant, user 2Bord_ made a post titled “I take it back, make a vote kick option.” In the post, the OP explained that they were originally against the implementation of vote to kick, but changed their minds “because holy f**k there are so many AFKing leechers.”
While farming Blair components all day, the OP said they encountered “AFKing leechers almost every run.” The OP elaborated, “They’ll move a little bit every now and then, or randomly shoot once, so they don’t AFK time out. I get that the Story dungeons are long and boring, but it would be 200x faster if you helped out, instead of AFKing.”
AFKing players are a huge problem within the community. In the replies, one user asked: “I don’t get why people afk in these types of games, isn’t the point to grind?”, to which another user simply explained: “You get the same rewards as everyone else even if you afk. People farm the quest rewards, not the random drops from enemies.”
While few in the comments are in favor of the kick voice, many comments are adamantly against the option because “it’s always used in toxic ways.” Opponents argue that the kick voice “would be used more often to kick people because of the character they’re playing or their level or their build than to actually kick AFK people.”
In the comments, comparisons are being made to Helldivers 2. The Arrowhead shooter does not have a voting system to kick players, but the host can kick players, resulting in many complaints that this system is being abused by toxic hosts.
As for how to solve the dilemma with AFK players, one user said that Nexon should “just add some afk checks, like button prompts, movement checks, or enemy damage checks. And enforce afk reports.” Another user suggested, “Let’s just flag afk users. If they don’t move after 10 seconds, they get kicked out.”
In addition to the above ideas, players have suggested that Nexon should follow Warframe’s steps. According to the comments, you won’t get rewards for rounds that you AFK too much in Warframe, which will result in a much better and fairer player experience.
