The newest, most popular workout combines the best of both worlds: you can do it right at home and you don’t even have to clear your schedule for it.

Does this sound too good to be true?

Nowadays, people use wrist weights during their morning routines such as curling their hair, applying makeup, and even applying skin care products.

Wrist weights can not only strengthen your arms, but also strengthen your heart muscle. This means your heart rate can go up, leading to a more effective workout.

The new phenomenon has taken over TikTok, with countless users showing off how they’ve modified their routines to incorporate the wrist weights.

Model and content creator Emily DiDonato took to TikTok this week to try out the hack, getting ready while wearing a set of two-pound wrist weights

This week, model Emily DiDonato tried it out for herself on the social media platform, admitting it was a lot harder than it looked.

She used two-pound, $65 wrist weights from the popular brand Bala Bangles and began straightening her hair, which clearly took its toll.

But that wasn’t all: DiDonato grabbed her curling iron and began curling each strand of hair.

When she looked perfect, she ripped off the weights and threw them on the floor. In the caption, she admits that the curling portion of the “get ready with me” nearly “knocked her off balance.”

In the comments below the post, many people joked that they were already sweating when they did their own hair and makeup, without the added wrist weights.

“I’m sweating just trying to do a slicked back ponytail. I wouldn’t survive,” one user typed.

Another agreed: ‘I sweat enough doing my hair, ugh. So smart. Hahahah.’

“Awesome but curly, I don’t think I could survive it. I have a lot of hair,” someone else typed.

Once her look was perfect, she ripped off the weights and threw them on the floor. In the caption, she admitted that the curling portion of the Get Ready With Me video nearly made her fall out.

Hair influencer Abigail Lin also took her one-pound wrist weights for a spin as she blow-dried and curled her hair

Of course, DiDonato isn’t the only one who has tried the trend.

Hair influencer Abigail Lin also grabbed her 16-ounce wrist weights and twirled them as she blow-dried and curled her hair.

It seemed to be quite a workout because while she was doing it she seemed to get out of breath and even had to take a few breaks.

Next, she created a tight bun with a set of weights, which almost seemed like a more difficult task than using a blow dryer.

TikTok creator Victoria Marano even tried it with the $6,000 Dyson Airwrap, which comes with several styling accessories.

She had to take a break from curling her hair because it was getting quite strenuous. She stressed that you shouldn’t be fooled by those two kilos.

While these weights can tone your arms, it’s important not to overdo it.

Dr. Haniel Hernandez, a physical therapist at Redefine Healthcare, told CNET that wrist weights can put extra stress on the joints.

“The most effective way to use them during exercise is to understand the expression ‘less is more,’” the doctor said.
