Hey guys! The weekend is almost here, so I hope you have some exciting plans. My favorite film festival just started, so I’m going to try to catch a movie or two there this weekend. I also have so much to catch up on at the regular cinema! Bonus: most cinemas have air conditioning, making them the perfect summer hangout spot for me.
Anyway, today News Connections hints and answers coming soon.
How to play connections
In ConnectionsYou are given a grid of 16 words. Your task is to sort them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. The groups could be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb, or rappers.
There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you have to be careful with words that fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to see if there are any connections between the words.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest to figure out. The purple group often contains puns, so keep that in mind.
Select four words that you think go together and press Submit. If you guess incorrectly, you lose a life. If you’re close to a correct group, you may see a message that you’re one word away from the correct word, but you still have to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some hints, and if you’re really struggling, the Connections answers.

Not a perfect game today, but I have 12 wins in a row. I have my personal best of 32 in sight.
LOVER, SWEETHEART and FLAME felt like a red herring, because I couldn’t see what would fit. STEADY didn’t make sense to me. So I turned my attention elsewhere and found the blues, courtesy of DIESEL and REGULAR. The greens were next, but I made a mistake by including FLAME instead of SLIGHT.
Again, I wasn’t so sure about the yellow one. I couldn’t figure out the purple connection either, but I figured I’d give those remaining words a try in case they formed a group. And lo and behold, they did, leaving me with the yellow one for the win.

PS The green group reminded me how much I love a good roast. I also love a good bad roast, an art Norm Macdonald has definitely mastered. With a series of deliberately bad jokes and genuinely touching observations about the target of the roast, Bob Saget, Macdonald is truly brilliant in this clip. It’s also great to see some other comedians slowly catching on to what he’s doing.
