Massive Pixel 9 leak gives us our first real-world look at the Fold

Android Authority Composite/NCC

Google doesn’t seem to be having much luck keeping its latest Pixel under wraps. First, photos of the new Pixel 9 Pro Fold leaked back in February , and since then we’ve seen at least three more major real-world leaks of the upcoming phones.

Google’s luck hasn’t improved as we approach launch. The entire Pixel 9 lineup has just leaked via the NCC regulatory body (basically Taiwan’s version of the FCC), with reveal photos including the first clear shots of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (offering a good look at the fold), battery sizes, new charging speeds, and more.

All four Pixel 9 models showed up at the NCC: the Pixel 9 (model number GUR25), Pixel 9 Pro (GEC77), Pixel 9 Pro XL (GZC4K), and Pixel 9 Pro Fold (GGH2X). Additionally, the NCC has photos of the phones’ internals. I’ve put together a gallery of photos of each of the phones below.

This is the Pixel 9 Pro Fold

The images confirm that Google is moving the in-display selfie camera to the corner of the display, which was already hinted at by earlier renders. The new square camera setup that appeared in earlier renders has also been confirmed, replacing the iconic long camera bar of the Pixel series.

The 9 Pro Fold also appears to have thinner top and bottom bezels on the inner display compared to the original Pixel Fold. The crinkling in the display also appears to be reduced somewhat, though we won’t be able to tell for sure until we get the phone in our hands. The phone is also lying completely flat in these photos; the first-gen Fold couldn’t open all the way.

Charge (slightly) faster

The NCC reports also reveal new charging speeds, which are measured as part of Taiwan’s regulatory process. Unfortunately, the tests only reveal an estimated charging speed, not an exact value, so while we know it’ll be faster, we don’t know exactly by how much. The number that stands out the most is 32.67W for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It’s safe to assume the device will support at least 35W, which would make it a modest but nice upgrade over the Pixel 8 Pro, which only supports up to 30W.

I’ve compiled a table of the charging speeds from the reports below, adding older Pixel phones for reference:

The NCC reports also reveal a brand new 45W charger from Google (model GW8L7), including photos of it which you can check out below:

The lists show the battery sizes for all upcoming Pixel 9 devices. I’ve summarized them in a table, along with the values of their predecessors:

Finally, the reports mention radio support on the Google Pixel 9 series: all models are certified for Thread, while the base Pixel 9 does not have UWB, unlike all other variants.

The Google Pixel 9 series is expected to launch at the Made by Google event on August 13. While we wait, here’s everything we know so far about the new phones.
