Let’s look at an example in the form of Glyphs of Gitzan. In the base game you could get 1,000G for completing different levels on your way to level 50, while in this latest title update it’s exactly the same except the achievements appear at certain times other levels when you complete them, for example at level 6 instead of level 4.
Of course, the difficulty of achievements will vary from game to game, but the majority here should be fairly easy. As for why it’s allowed, Microsoft says in its rulebook that games can add achievements on a “semi-annual” basis:
“Titles may add achievements or gamerscore at any time after launch, with or without associated new content, but may not exceed title- or calendar-based limits.”
“Please note: “Semi-Annual” means January-June, July-December. Base game achievements and Gamerscore do not count towards the Semi-Annual limits.”
The only important rule that needs to be followed is that the achievements “represent in-depth exploration or engagement with game content”, and 200G should also be the max for each individual achievement. As far as we can tell, every game on this list has taken those limitations into account.
But what do you think about this in general? Do you like seeing title updates like this? Tell us below.
