Richard E. Grant’s daughter has married his partner Florian Herbst in a civil ceremony, three years after the famous actor lost his wife to cancer.

Olivia Grant, a casting director whose credits include last year’s record-breaking film Barbie, said “I do” to Herbst on Monday in a ceremony attended only by her father and the groom’s parents.

Withnail & I star Grant, 67, confirmed the news on X, formerly Twitter, revealing they celebrated the nuptials with a fish dinner at Scott’s restaurant in Mayfair, before spending the night at The Ritz.

He captioned the post: ‘Our beloved daughter @OliviaGranted married Florian Herbst yesterday in a civil ceremony with just his parents and I in attendance. Wedding breakfast at Scott’s and a truly spectacular dinner and sleepover in the suite. Treated royally!!’

The celebration comes three years after Grant’s wife of 35 years and Olivia’s mother Joan Washington died from stage four breast cancer.

Grant previously revealed the “amazing mantra” he’s been living by since his late wife’s death.

The actor told how his wife gave him life lessons in the days before her death, which have since helped him cope with the “abyss of grief.”

“It’s been a wonderful mantra to navigate the abyss of grief these past 15 months and I’m grateful for that.”

Grant also said he misses Joan most during the winter period around Christmas and on their wedding day in November.

Speaking to the Radio Times in 2023, he said: ‘Our wedding anniversary is on November 1; Joan’s birthday is on December 21; then there’s Christmas and then Olly’s [his nickname for his daughter Olivia] birthday is january 4th.

‘Last year Olly and her partner Florian very generously invited me to Venice and then to visit his family in the south of Austria, which was truly magical.

‘This year I’m going to the Caribbean with just the two of us so I don’t have to be in London for Christmas.’
