When is Amazon Prime Day 2024 in the UK?

Amazon has announced that Prime Day 2024 will take place on Tuesday, July 16 and will end on Wednesday, July 17. As expected, the sale will begin on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. ET and end on Wednesday at 11:59 p.m.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is an annual two-day sales event where the retailer offers discounts on thousands of products from popular brands including Apple, Samsung, KitchenAid, Shark, Simba, Ninja and more.

Amazon announced ahead of time that Prime members will get exclusive access to thousands of deals on top brands (a few of which are specifically mentioned), as well as big savings on Amazon’s own devices and services. We’re talking Ring doorbells, Fire TV sticks, and deals on Audible books and memberships.

The retailer has confirmed that we’ll be seeing discounts on Elemis, ghd, Ninja and Samsung, and it’s slashing products from Barbie, L’Oréal Paris, Shark and more to their lowest price ever this year. Prime members will also get what Amazon is calling “deep discounts” on products from Bose, Fitbit, Oral-B and Sony.

Amazon will also be rolling out some early Prime Day discounts on Amazon devices. Starting July 10, you can save up to 50 percent on select Ring cameras and doorbells, including Ring video doorbells, Ring indoor cameras, Ring’s stick-up cam, as well as 55 percent on the Ring Intercom and up to 65 percent on Blink’s line of security cameras. On July 12, Amazon will drop deals on its Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED series of TVs, saving you up to 45 percent.

In 2022, Amazon began hosting more than one Prime Day-style sale per year, starting with the Prime Early Access Sale in October. It now hosts three sales per year: the Amazon Spring Sale in March (which is open to non-Prime subscribers), Amazon Prime Day in July, and the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days Sale in October.

Amazon Prime Day is always the best of the three, with top discounts on the biggest products. To access the discounts in the Prime Day sale, you must have an active Amazon Prime membership.

Best Amazon Prime Day Tips

The IndyBest team has been covering Amazon Prime Day since it started in 2015. We’ve been searching for discounts and tracking prices for years, so we know when something’s a good deal and when it’s a bust. Leading up to and throughout the event, we’ll be highlighting the very best deals on the most coveted products. We’ll even be liveblogging nonstop every waking (and sleeping) hour of the 48-hour sale.

To be prepared, we recommend adding any items you absolutely want to your wishlist in advance, so you can checkout faster when the sale starts. It’s also worth downloading the Amazon app : the retailer will continue to drop “lightning deals” throughout the sale, and these will only be available for a few hours at a time. You can also set up notifications so you’ll be alerted when a sale is about to start.

Amazon Prime Day vs. Black Friday: Should You Wait?

When it comes to major sales, Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day are the biggest and best. However, there are differences between the two that may affect your decision on whether to wait to grab a deal.

The biggest difference is that during Black Friday you see thousands of retailers drastically reducing the prices of their products. So in theory you have more choice. This is in contrast to Prime Day where you can only get a discount at Amazon.

The good thing about Prime Day is that all the deals are in one place, making it much easier to shop than having to visit every website for the best deal. Since it’s a Prime members-only sale, you technically should have less competition, so your favorite air fryer won’t sell out as quickly as it would during the Amazon Spring Sale, where non-Prime members could also take advantage of the discounts.

The biggest deals and discounts you’ll see during Prime Day will be on Amazon’s tech and own-brand devices, including Kindle e-readers, Amazon Echo smart speakers, and Ring video doorbells.

Since we’ve been following Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day for so long, the discounts during both sales periods are about the same, so we don’t have to worry too much.

How to Sign Up for Amazon Prime

As we mentioned, Prime Day deals are exclusive to Amazon Prime members, which costs £8.99 a month or £95 if you pay for a year in advance. Signing up couldn’t be easier; all you have to do is head to the Amazon Prime homepage and enter your details.

If you don’t want to pay the monthly fee, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial. This will also give you access to the sale. However, we recommend that you do this as close to the deadline as possible.

Is Amazon Prime Worth It?

Whether or not a subscription service is worth it depends on personal preference, of course. However, you do get a ton of perks when you’re an Amazon Prime member. Not only do you get Prime Day deals, you also get free next-day and same-day shipping on items, and you have access to thousands of free e-books, Prime Video, and Amazon Music services.
