Bean Dive 2024 Announcement

Bean Dive 15 – Time to catch up!!! to dive

I see all those unplayed games you have. Stop ignoring them and put them on your tag where they belong. You didn’t like your completion percentage being so high anyway, so join me in knocking it down a few notches via the annual Bean Dive event. This year we’ve included the Bean Dive in the July TA Targets again, with a gold medal up for grabs for starting just three new games… rookie numbers for every masterful Bean Diver!

The new hub is here and here you can start your dive.

Bean Dive 2024: Everything You Need to Know

When is Bean Dive 2024?
This year, Bean Dive starts on July 5th at 10:00 UTC. If you can’t start then, the event will run until 23:59 UTC on July 14th. You can still start a Dive after this point, but it won’t be included in the event stats.

What is a Bean Dive?
You are cordially invited to get a single achievement in as many of your unplayed games as possible so you can stop pretending they don’t exist. Check out the first thread about the Bean Dive for some background.

What’s the point?
The idea behind a Bean Dive is to force you to play all those games you bought on sale or never got around to. It also destroys your completion percentage. Hopefully you’ll take on the challenge to get it back to pre-Dive levels before the next Dive comes around. You may accidentally get more than one achievement, but that’s okay.

How can I participate?

  • To start your dive, simply press the Start my dive on the event page once the event starts.
  • This will immediately start tracking your dive data and record your statistics at that exact moment.
  • When you start your dive, the message ‘Dive started’ will appear in your feed.
  • All achievements in new games The points you earn while diving are grouped into one expandable item in your feed.
  • On the right side of your home page you will see a new ‘Dive Summary’ box, where you will find all kinds of information about the dive.
  • You can disable the items in the friends feed and overview box if you wish by editing your site settings.
  • All Dives get their own Bean Dive page on the site, where stat changes are displayed and all Dives games are listed.
  • When you have finished your dive, go to that page and click “Finish my dive.” Do not press this button until all Dived games have been scanned, otherwise they will not be counted!
  • You will receive a ‘Dive Finished’ message in your feed, showing the number of games dived and the drop in completion percentage.
  • As you recover, you will receive milestones to show how far you have come. If/when you get back to your pre-dive percentage, you will receive another feed message to congratulate you.
  • Make sure you are absolutely sure you have completed your dive before pressing the Finish button, as all recorded statistics will be reset if/when you decide to start a new dive.

What milestones will I receive?
Your Bean Dive recovery milestones depend on how many achievements you need to recover your Dive. Here’s how it works:

  • If you need less than 100, you will receive one recovery message at 100% recovery.
  • If you need 100-249, you will get two recovery messages: one at 50% recovery and one at 100% recovery.
  • If you need 250 or more, you will receive four recovery messages: one for every 25% recovery.

I finished my dive and want to do another one…
You ridiculous idiot! But hey, you can start another one by clicking on the Start my dive button again. However, to prevent people from spamming Dives, you’re limited to four per year.

There were multiple achievements when I first started playing, does that still count?
Yes. While the goal is to get as few achievements as possible and then move on to the next game, we know there are some games where you have no choice but to get multiple achievements when you start. Just try to keep it as low as possible for maximum effect. If you unlock five or more achievements, the game will not be included in your dive stats.

Is there a minimum number of games required to make it a Dive?
No, not really, but to make it worth your while I’d say make at least ten if you can. You can only play Dive games in which you’ve never unlocked an achievement. Therefore, you can’t play Dive DLC achievements if you’ve already unlocked achievements in the main game.

Where can I find more information and ask questions?

Bean Dive is brought to you by TA’s very own Beanpotter. Disclaimer: The annual Bean Dive event is not for everyone, a bit like Marmite; it’s a horrible brown colour, it’s sticky and it smells like yeast. Enjoy! to dive
