With so many games to choose from, we decided to compile the top 20 for this article. In descending order, they are as follows…
20. Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars – 71 votes (1%)
19. Ys X: Nordics – 72 votes (1%)
18. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero – 74 votes (1%)
17. Sonic X Shadow Generations – 80 votes (1%)
16. EA Sports College Football 25 – 86 votes (1%)
15. Visions of Mana – 90 votes (1%)
14. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – 99 votes (2%)
13. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – 100 votes (2%)
12. Life Is Strange: Double Exposure – 130 votes (2%)
11. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake – 151 votes (2%)
10. The Plucky Squire – 176 votes (3%)
The Plucky Squire has looked gorgeous since it was first revealed, and it’s actually quite heartening to see it get so many votes. This promises to be an incredibly inventive platforming adventure that plays out in both 2D and 3D. Here’s hoping the gameplay lives up to the lovingly crafted visuals.
9. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 – 213 votes (3%)
Jumping from The Plucky Squire to Space Marine 2 is about as jarring as it gets, but variety is the spice of PS5 life, we think. This third-person action shooter has been looking glorious and glorious for months now, perfectly capturing that gritty Warhammer 40k aesthetic. With a full single-player or co-op campaign, a separate mission-based co-op mode, and even team-based PvP, we could be looking at one of the most robust releases of 2024.
8. LEGO Horizon Adventures – 283 votes (4%)
Horizon is clearly a huge hit here in the PlayStation Nation, so it’s no great surprise to see the LEGO adaptation grab a spot in the top ten. This lighthearted take on Aloy’s robot-hunting adventures could breathe some unexpected life into the franchise, and we’re sure it’ll be packed with fun ideas and cheeky nods to the main games.
7. Metaphor: ReFantazio – 292 votes (4%)
Atlus’ new RPG is shaping up to be something special, and its placement on this list suggests expectations are understandably high. A strange and potentially wonderful fantasy adventure, previews for this one have been overwhelmingly positive. With a striking art style (what else did you expect?) and a ton of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei-esque RPG mechanics, it’s hard to imagine a future where Metaphor is not an instant hit with fans of the genre.
6. Dragon Age: The Veilguard – 294 votes (4%)
Dragon Age: The Veilguard sits at #6 on this list, which says a lot about how opinions can change. The game’s reveal trailer was an unmitigated disaster, but BioWare has worked hard to turn the tide, showing off a decent gameplay demo before dropping a bunch of great-sounding details. Sure, The Veilguard isn’t going to be a throwback to the good ol’ days of Origins or even Dragon Age 2, but its focus on action combat and a more mission-based structure could lead to the kind of overhaul the series has been sorely lacking.
5. Silent Hill 2 – 330 votes (5%)
Would a brand new Silent Hill game make it to the fifth spot on this list? We’re not sure – but such is the power of remasters and remakes. Silent Hill 2 is clearly a household name, and while questions still linger over the remake’s tone and atmosphere, it’s clear that horror fans are eager to relive a classic. Here’s hoping that Bloober Team, with Konami in the role of overseer, delivers the iteration the original release deserves.
4. Assassin’s Creed Shadows – 423 votes (6%)
With Assassin’s Creed Mirage bringing the series back to its roots last year, it’s now time for Assassin’s Creed Shadows to take the franchise forward once again. Finally, it’s taking players to feudal Japan – one of the most, if not the Most requested Assassin’s Creed setting — Shadows should be another immersive open-world adventure. With two playable characters offering different playstyles, there’s potential for Ubisoft’s most innovative historical escapade in a long time.
3. Black Myth: Wukong – 492 votes (7%)
Once thought to be nothing more than a tech demo that would never evolve into a full game, Black Myth: Wukong is real—and its release is not far off. An action game based on Journey to the WestWukong has been looking stunning for a long time now. In fact, those who’ve actually played it say it’s brilliant – a moderately challenging but super satisfying brawler, packed with impeccably designed enemies. It’s no surprise that it claims such a high spot on this list.
2. Star Wars Outlaws – 539 votes (8%)
Two Ubisoft games in the top five? The French publisher must be doing something right. Just about anything with a Star Wars logo will always be popular, but it certainly helps that Outlaws looks like a part. This is the first true open world Star Wars game, which features a multi-planet adventure and a variety of gameplay mechanics. While there’s a chance that Outlaws might feel a little… tired in its structure, we can see that the spot-on visuals and freedom of exploration do a lot of the heavy lifting.
1. Astro Bot – 1,163 votes (18%)
Well, ultimately, this was hardly a contest. Astro Bot absolutely crushed every other game on this list, garnering over 1,000 votes when every other game struggled to even garner half that many. Team Asobi is finally making a full-on PS5 platformer with everyone’s favorite little robot at the helm, and the hype is palpable. It may not be the mega-budget, AAA, cinematic blockbuster PS5 exclusive that Sony usually saves for the final months of the year, but Astro Bot could still be pure PlayStation Studios joy from start to finish.
