According to reports, the features of the brand new Samsung smart ring have already leaked ahead of the launch of the successful Galaxy next week.
Samsung’s latest innovative piece of technology is set to wow potential buyers with jewelry that can measure the wearer’s stress levels, detect snoring and even measure skin temperature.
The small silver device is expected to make its public debut at Samsung Unpacked on July 10 in Paris, with many seeing the ring as the future of wearable technology.
The Korean electronics giant will release the Galaxy Ring later this year.
In February, the first images of the ring were released via a teaser.
It looks like a wedding ring for men, with a metal exterior and a black interior. The rings are equipped with sensors that monitor the daily health of your body.
According to tech magnates at Android Authority, the Galaxy Ring can do all sorts of smart things thanks to its many sensors.
Like most other fitness gadgets, the ring measures the user’s heart rate and stress level.
Both important data can be easily found in the Samsung Health app compatible with the ring.
The daily figures are displayed in the form of a bar chart, with the app indicating how your values compare to the previous days.
To activate the stress and heart rate monitors, users simply need to sit still while wearing the ring and click the button.
Samsung has also made sure that the ring stands out from other devices in the highly competitive tech market.
The fitness tracker is said to come with a trio of additional features, including measuring skin temperature, detecting snoring and predicting women’s menstrual cycles.
Some stats require a phone to upload the data from the ring, similar to that of Samsung watches.
The Rings watches make up the Samsung Health gadget collection.
Hon Pak, Samsung’s vice president and head of its digital health team, said the health app has about 64 million monthly active users.
Pak also hopes that first-time ring buyers will not only want to buy the ring when it finally becomes available, but will also want to pair it with a watch.
He added: “I want to have the ability to use other forms of wearable technology to measure health.
“And some want to wear the watch, some want to wear the watch and the ring and benefit from both. Some just want more simplicity.”
Samsung may face stiff competition from Apple, its biggest rival.
According to recent reports, the mega tech company is working on its own smart ring.
The American company applied for a patent for ‘a wearable electronic ring’ in 2019, but little has been known about it since then.
But a new report from Korean media outlet ET News suggests that Apple may be developing the ring for a near future release.
A Samsung spokesperson said: “We strive to provide the most seamless and intuitive user experience for our wearables users, and we believe the best way to do that is within the Android ecosystem.”
Interestingly, Samsung has announced that the ring will not be compatible with Apple products like the iPhone.
