M&S and Aldi’s huge new shopping center in Plymouth is getting closer

A huge new retail development featuring M&S and Aldi stores is nearing completion. The £19 million complex at the former Seaton Barracks in Plymouth is expected to be completed in September.

The Plymouth The council-owned site will create around 100 jobs and provide new facilities for the growing population in the north of Plymouth. Confirmed tenants at the Derriford District Center include a Marks and Spencer Foodhall, an Aldi supermarket, a Costa Coffee, a PureGym, a Pets Corner pet shop and an Oggy Oggy pasta shop, with plans also underway to add a further unit rent to a takeaway food operator.

The development includes 12 electric vehicle charging points, sustainable transport links to reduce car use, cycle lanes and easy pedestrian access to bus stops. It is close to a major new housing estate and some of Plymouth’s biggest employers, including Derriford Hospital and the Land Registry.

Now plans have been put forward by developers ADC Kimberley Ltd to place the signage outside the site. It is a step closer to the opening of the new building, with the planning application showing what the signage could look like.

The centre is conveniently located close to a large new housing estate and some of Plymouth’s largest employers including Derriford Hospital and the Land Registry. The site had been unused for over 20 years and was only used as a coronavirus test center until the redevelopment project started.

Plymouth City Council planners will decide the fate of all new applications listed below at a later date. Below is the full list of planning applications submitted this week.
