Hey guys! One of my favorite sporting events of the year, Wimbledon, has begun. As such, I’ll be spending a good chunk of this week and next in front of the TV, enjoying what will undoubtedly be top-quality tennis from the world’s best players. (When I’m not watching Euro 2024, that is.)
Today News Connections hints and answers coming soon.
How to play connections
In ConnectionsYou are given a grid of 16 words. Your task is to sort them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. The groups could be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb, or rappers.
There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you have to be careful with words that fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to see possible connections between the words.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest to figure out. The purple group often contains puns, so keep that in mind.
Select four words that you think go together and press Submit. If you guess incorrectly, you lose a life. If you’re close to a correct group, you may see a message that you’re one word away from the correct word, but you still have to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some hints, and if you’re really struggling, the Connections answers.

I am very happy that I can win again after a few defeats.
It took me a few minutes to get the ball rolling today. STASH, STOW, and STORE had the basis for a group, but I couldn’t think of a fourth group that would fit. I looked elsewhere and realized that ERGO, QUID, and VOX sounded like the kind of Latin things a lawyer would say. CAVEAT made sense with those two.
I turned my attention back to the yellow and tried a guess with FIXED. I’m not sure why I chose that, but it killed my chances of a perfect play. A few seconds later I realized that SQUIRREL was the mysterious fourth word.
The grid pushed ARCADE and SQUID together, making it easier to distract the purple group, leaving the greens to win.

PS One of my all time favorite arcade games is The Simpsons. It’s a brilliant beat ’em up that you can play with up to three friends. It also had some great double team moves. I need to find an arcade that still has it… or maybe just spend some money and get my own machine at home.
