Have you ever wondered how often your name appears?

Now you can find out.

MailOnline has today created a search tool that will show you exactly how many boys and girls born in the last 30 years share your name.

It not only shows the absolute number, but also illustrates whether it has become more or less popular over time.

The most popular baby names in over 330 counties in England and Wales are also being revealed on interactive maps today.

Noah – officially the most common boy’s name – tops the list of about 75 local authorities, while Muhammad tops the list of 45 and Oliver is on the list of 24.

Among girls, Olivia claimed top spot, with 69 local authorities defending the name, followed by Amelia at 42 and Isla at 30.

Olivia was also popular among mothers across all age categories: she was the most popular name in three of the four age groups (25-29, 30-34 and over 35).

Noah topped only one demographic group, under 25, while Muhammad ranked higher in both the 25 to 29 year olds and over 35 year olds, while 30 to 34 year olds preferred the name Oliver.

Only 35 different boys’ names were listed in the Office for National Statistics (ONS) rankings, compared to 58 for girls.

In terms of boys, Osian (joint top in Carmarthenshire) and David (Harrow) were on the list.

Several city districts have clearly felt the pull of the celebrity world when choosing their baby names in 2022, data shows.

Pop star Dua Lipa has conquered the Oldham area of Greater Manchester as the most popular girl’s name for 2022 (12).

The 28-year-old, who has won seven Brit Awards and three Grammys, was born in London’s West Hampstead to Kosovo-Albanian parents.

Dua, from the Arabic word for ‘prayer’, first appeared in the ONS annual figures in 1999, with three children in England and Wales being named.

Its popularity grew moderately, but remained in the single figures until 2005. In England and Wales, it reached number 13, before climbing to 115 in 2018. That year, she released her mega-hit One Kiss with DJ Calvin Harris, the best-selling song of 2018.

Since then, the popularity of the name has only grown: in 2022, 322 girls were called Dua.

Meanwhile, Australian box office phenomenon Margot Robbie appears to have been a particular hit in the ceremonial East Midlands region of Rutland.

Five girls in the area were given the same name as the Barbie and Wolf of Wall Street stunner in 2022, with a total of 810 in England and Wales for the year.

Robbie’s big break came opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s 2013 hit The Wolf of Wall Street.

And the data shows that the film’s release has seen an uptick in naming habits, with babies named Margot nearly doubling year over year, from 55 in 2013 to 104 in 2014.

There were 810 babies born with the name Margot in 2022, the second-highest total ever after 2021’s 892.

Dr Rebecca Gregory, a senior lecturer in historical linguistics and onomastics at the University of Nottingham, told MailOnline that the appeal of naming children after famous figures has existed for centuries.

‘We can start to follow this trend around the 16th century, when church archives come into circulation; Whether it is a local figure or a member of the royal family, people have always named children after influential people,” she said.

Where in times gone by the lord or duchess would get the nod, nowadays people look to theatre, film and sport for inspiration.
