We dig into the opening level and our first task is to get our hands on Professor E.Gadd’s Poltergust 5000. To do this, we need to go to the Gloomy country house. What can go wrong? Let’s go!
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD Walkthrough Guide – Gloomy Manor – A-1 Poltergust 5000
We are zapped to the first area and start the game on the walk to the mansion itself. Once at the entrance you have to interact with the door and see a mouse with a key jump out and run through the courtyard. Go after it, find the key and let our haunted house adventure begin!

This gemstone can flash from a purple flower right of the door with your straw ball – so make sure you come back fully rested!
Now enter the mansion and swing to the left at the first door in the hallway to the Garage. Here you can interact with vases and other objects to grab coinsand also check out the vintage car, because that’s where you’ll find our Poltergust 5000. Simple!
You can now practice vacuuming the piles of dust scattered around the room by pressing and holding the button ZR. You can also grab the cloth by holding ZR then move Luigi backwards until prompted to press A. Do this in the back left corner of the garage to pull a sheet off a chest to get yourself a golden key that you need in the hallway to open the central doorway.
To do this, use the Poltergust 5000 to pull the sheet off the door to the right of the hallway. Now go in here and find yourself in the Mud room. Once inside you will find another golden key above you, stuck in a ceiling fan. Use your Poltergust to spin the fan and pick him up, then vacuum up all the other treasures and head back to the hallway.
Gloomy Mansion Gemstone #2
Outside in the garden you will see a ghost pup digging around, as well as a gem in the tree. Flash the door to access the garden and go outside to suck the gem out of the tree.
We can now continue in the Waiting hall where you need to be avoid the swords as they fall of each set of guard armor. Go through the door using the golden key we found in the Mudroom, we find ourselves in the FoyerIn this area you will find a heart in a vase behind the fish fountain. Now go to the stairs and you will be interrupted by the professor. He will tell you that you have a Strobol – that’s the green thing that sits above you in a chandelier.
To get the lamp, go to the top floor via the stairs and aim your vacuum cleaner blows at the fan above the lightthis will lower the whole thing down so you can now run down and grab the light before it comes back up. Once you have the light attached to the Poltergust 5000 you can do that open green panel doors, stun ghosts, open safes and more.
Before you go through the door at the bottom right of the stairs, make sure you go back up use your new light bulb flash to open the safe and get a lot of coins. Now we can go ahead and check out our first real piece by going through the opened scanning door to the Wardrobe. Here, interaction with the toilet to swing through to a hidden area with a ghost taking a shower. Once the ghost runs away in fear/embarrassment, make sure to suck up all the coins, use suction on the towels and so on to get a decent amount of coin out of this small room.
Once back in the wardrobe the first battle starts and it’s just you against a tiny little green ghost. This is a good time to learn about flash a ghost and then wrangle them with your vacuum cleaner. Once you’ve stunned an enemy, suck them up with the Poltergust while holding your joystick in the opposite direction, which will exhaust the ghost and allow you to give a big “A” prompt to knock them across the room. Do this twice and the psychic rails will evaporate from the doors. Well done, you survived your first encounter with ghosts.
But don’t relax yet, the foyer now has a trio of ghosts to take outa good time to do some combat practice. Defeat these ghosts to end the level, while the professor takes you back to the safety of the bunker for a debriefing and a look at what ghosts and treasures you’ve picked up!

Return to this mission once you get your dark-light device and use it next to the car in the garage to unleash Boogie Woogie!
Defeat all the boos by following them and draining their energy with your dark light before draining their energy with your Poltergust.
