Sky Stream and Sky Q viewers have unlocked a free fitness service packed with dozens of at-home workouts. Mvmnt, co-developed by Olympic 400m runner Tim Benjamin, has been exclusive to Sky Glass since it first launched in June 2023 alongside the Sky Live camera.

The latter is an optional accessory, costing £290, that attaches magnetically to the top of your Sky Glass television and uses the 4K camera to provide real-time feedback on your movements as you follow the exercises on the screen.

Earlier this week, Sky removed the requirement to use a Sky Live camera with Mvmnt, opening up the free fitness service to millions more viewers with Sky Q and Sky Stream boxes. Yes, that means you don’t have to spend the money on Sky Live or upgrade to the all-in-one Smart TV designed by the teams at Sky TV.

You can take advantage of the best Sky Stream deals And still enjoy free training with Mvmnt.

Until now, Mvmnt has been exclusive to Sky Glass with its Sky Live camera accessory that tracks your body’s position to correct form during at-home workouts

Mvmnt, accessible from the Apps menu on your Q and Stream box, offers 130 interactive workout classes, including pilates, HIIT, and yoga, to name a few.

Everything has been designed to make it as accessible as possible, with Sky reassuring newcomers that “for most workouts you won’t need any extra equipment, although we do recommend a yoga mat. Some workouts will require dumbbells – this lets you know on the fly screen.”

On-screen coaches guide you through the exercises, which are available at different levels of difficulty, both for those starting their fitness journey and for those who train regularly.

New classes are constantly being added by the team, which is led by Rory Knight – winner of the gong for Men’s Health Smartest Coach.

In a recent update, Mvmnt added the ability to sync with heart rate sensors, such as chest straps, and popular smartwatches, such as the Apple Watch. An Mvmnt app on iPhone and Android is also free to download, so you can continue your normal workouts when you’re away from your Sky box.

Of course, Mvmnt has been adapted to work on Sky Q and Sky Stream hardware without the Sky Live camera. As such, you lose real-time feedback on your posture and technique, although that’s not something you’ll find with competing home workout plans like Peloton and Apple Fitness+.

To celebrate the launch of its full portfolio of boxes, Sky is offering newcomers to Mvmnt a 45-day free trial to gain access everything included in the app. You can set a routine for several weeks, watch fitness classes on the big screen via a smartphone and track your progress on the go.

If you don’t cancel during the trial period, you will be charged £7.99 per month to continue using Mvmnt.

If you own a Sky Live camera and Sky Glass, you can still access Mvmnt for free. Although some advanced features – such as the ability to track heart rate zones on the big screen of your Apple Watch – will be reserved for Mvmnt Premium subscribers, which will incur additional charges.

Speaking about the decision to bring Mvmnt to millions of additional viewers in the UK, Tim Benjamin, co-founder of Olympian and Mvmnt, said: “Since our initial launch of Mvmnt on Sky Live last year, we have been working on a mass market evolution of Mvmnt to be compatible with Sky’s non-camera devices, taking us a huge step closer to our goal of making high-quality fitness coaching accessible at home, to everyone.

“This latest launch on Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q has successfully opened up access to Mvmnt’s unparalleled coaching to millions of people, giving them a fitness experience that supports and educates them with the coaching they need to take fitness to make home life an enjoyable part of everyday life.

“We’ve adapted some of Mvmnt’s best-loved technology for Sky’s camera-free devices, including our exercise room, which allows users to master new moves before starting a workout.”
