The family had traveled on a package holiday, but their flight was canceled 65 minutes before it was due to depart at Glasgow Airport. They were advised to go home and wait for further instructions.
Guy, from Falkirk, Scotland, told the Record: “We arrived at Glasgow Airport at 5am and there were passengers there. The airport staff told us to check the easyJet app and no one would talk to us.
“There were no easyJet staff to help. By the time we got home I received an email saying they couldn’t provide another flight in two days so the whole holiday was cancelled. It’s the first day of the school summer holidays and this is what families have to deal with. It’s terrible.
Guy claimed that a customer service representative from easyJet’s call center said their flight had been canceled due to storms affecting UK flights and that it was out of their control.
He added: “The airline said we would get a refund but there was no mention of compensation. We booked this holiday months ago and got a good price.
“I’m thousands of pounds out of pocket, it’ll be hard to book anything else. I’m desperately trying to arrange something else for us, but we only have a certain amount of time set aside for work. I’ll do it.” I won’t be booking with them again.”
The airline said on its website that the cancellations were due to an air traffic control problem. A third flight from Crete to Edinburgh, which was due to depart at 11.35pm on Wednesday, June 26, was also canceled due to a “technical issue” on the plane which the airline said was at fault. Several flights from Edinburgh to London and Glasgow to Malaga were also affected.
The airline also made a wave of early morning flight cancellations at other UK airports as passengers took to social media to claim they were stranded in Turkey and Greece without accommodation.
A mother said in the early hours of the morning that passengers in Dalaman were left at the airport for three hours without any assistance or offer of accommodation. A moon also reported the same problem for a canceled flight to London.

An easyJet spokesperson said: “We are very sorry that due to the impact of air traffic control restrictions caused by poor weather yesterday which prevented this flight from operating and no suitable alternative flights were available, we are canceling the flight. of this customer had to cancel holiday at short notice. We have contacted our customer to apologize and confirm that we have processed a full refund.”
