Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has released a new patch for the PC and PlayStation 5 co-op shooter that fixes the spear after a previous update caused crashing issues.
Last week’s update 1.000.402 included a fix for the spear not targeting multiple entities (spawners, compound objects, etc.). This change was welcomed by fans as they hoped that the Spear weapon would finally become more reliable on the battlefield.
However, players soon discovered that the spear, the weapon Arrowhead had been trying to fix, was causing crashes, resulting in a new recommendation not to use it. Patch 01.000.403 now includes a fix for Spear-related crashes. Fingers crossed that this is now the end of the Spear’s tumultuous time in Helldivers 2.
Elsewhere there are more fixes for some relatively minor issues, and an updated list of issues Arrowhead is working on.
Helldivers 2 is the fastest-selling PlayStation game of all time, selling a whopping 12 million copies in just 12 weeks since it went on sale earlier this year. Amid the massive revenue that Helldivers 2 has generated, Arrowhead itself has faced a number of crises, including issues with its launch server and, most recently, a battle with Sony itself over the console maker’s controversial attempt to rip off Steam players. force them to link their account to PlayStation Network.
Arrowhead recently revealed that it was setting up the studio so it could “make more and better things” in the long term. In an introductory post on redditnew CEO Shams Jorjani, who recently replaced former Arrowhead CEO and now current Chief Creative Officer Johan Pilestedtsaid that the studio has had to adapt to the enormous success that Helldivers 2 brought to the company.
