Tax evaders in the Midlands have been named and shamed in an updated list published by HMRC. The list, published quarterly, is designed to deter tax avoiders, with anyone who doesn’t pay risking having their name made public.
The updated list includes a number of businesses and people in the Midlands who collectively owe thousands of pounds to HMRC. The list includes former cafe and chippy owners, as well as bathroom fitters and freight forwarders.
A person or company appears on the list if they have at least one willful default on more than £25,000 of tax. The list is updated every three months and a defaulter’s details are deleted after one year. All details are correct at the time of writing according to HMRC.
