What will be shown during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct? All leaks

Is it time for a party, Mario? (Nintendo)

Nintendo will reveal the Switch lineup for the rest of 2024 in its next Direct, in what could be the final presentation dedicated to the console.

With the Switch’s successor on the horizon, 2024 is almost certainly the last year this will be Nintendo’s primary console.

There’s no better proof that the Switch’s time is coming to an end than this year’s game lineup so far, which has mainly consisted of smaller first party titles like Princess Peach: Showtime! and remakes such as Paper Mario: The Thousand Year-Door.

So what could Nintendo have in store for the Switch’s last Christmas in the spotlight? Here are all the rumors and likely games for the Nintendo Direct on Tuesday, June 18.

Has Nintendo confirmed anything about the June Direct?

Nintendo has announced that this year’s June Direct will last around 40 minutes in total, suggesting that the company at least has something important to show.

The company hasn’t confirmed any games for the showcase yet, but it’s all but guaranteed that Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will be shown in some capacity as it releases later this month.

However, Nintendo has ruled out any mention of the Nintendo Switch successor, so don’t expect a reveal of the next console – although a small hint is possible.

What are the rumors about the June 2024 Nintendo Direct?

Ahead of the Direct, reports suggested that Xenoblade Chronicles X, one of the last remaining Wii U games stuck on the system, will finally make its way to the Switch. Since the other Xenoblade Chronicles games are all available on the system, it makes sense that this would get a revamped treatment to complete the set.

There are also rumors of something related to Star Fox, although it’s unclear in what capacity. The last original title in the series was 2016’s Star Fox Zero on Wii U, which was released towards the end of that system’s lifespan – but it made extensive use of the Wii U GamePad and can be tricky to get started to go on the Switch.

The last major Switch game known to be in development is Metroid Prime 4, although after a reboot in 2019 it’s unclear if it’s been delayed for the next console. Still, it’s possible that Metroid Prime 4 will appear somehow, especially if it’s intended as a cross-gen game.

It might not be the only Metroid game shown either. Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remastered have been rumored for years, and this could be the perfect time to show off one (or both) of them, to increase anticipation for the next installment.

Some smaller announcements also appear to have been leaked last week. An update for Among Us announced the date for the Nintendo Direct, so it’s almost certain that it will appear.

Evidence of PlayStation trophies also appeared online for Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, suggesting this could be overshadowed during the presentation. On the same day, The House Of The Dead 2 remake was reviewed for Switch in Europe, after originally being announced in 2019.

Noted Nintendo leaker Pyoro recently retweeted a message suggesting that something involving Ace Attorney will be announced at the presentation, which some believe could be a remaster of the Ace Attorney Investigations series – one of which has never been seen before was previously released in the West.

After failing to show up at the Xbox Games Showcase, there’s hope that Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally make an appearance – but no more than usual.

Finally, there’s also the ongoing rumored ports for Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, which still haven’t materialized. As well as less substantial rumors about a new Zelda remake and/or a spin-off game starring Zelda.

What else could be announced?

Rumors aside, Nintendo usually turns to Mario-themed sports games when the schedules need to be filled, so it’s possible we’ll see something along the lines of Mario Sports Mix, or a new tennis or golf title.

The same also applies to Mario Party, which consistently sells well. The last title in the series was Mario Party Superstars three years ago, so it feels like another entry is on the way. There are also unsubstantiated rumors that have exactly that effect.

The Nintendo Direct will be available to stream via YouTube on Tuesday, June 18 from 3pm BST in the UK, which translates to 7am PT/10am ET in the US.
