Sylvia Pugliese was happy to see the German capital added to the route map (“fantastic news for Berlin”), while ‘Ormskirkmagnate’ on the ECHO website was more enthusiastic about a trip to Morocco. He said: “Marrakech is quickly becoming the place to go according to people I know who have been there”.
Some readers longed for other destinations and made a few suggestions of their own for airlines operating from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Angela Duffy said: “More flights to Germany please, except Berlin and Strasbourg, France.”
Francophile Janice John suggested easyJet could add Limoges in central France.
Meanwhile, Denise Day dreams of an escape to the Greek capital. She said, “We need Athens.”
A few sun worshipers said more winter sun destinations would be welcome on Liverpool John Lennon’s road map.
Jan Campbell-Hague said: “How about flights to Madeira? By far the best winter destination.”
Christine Hully suggested flights to Gibraltar could be added, “even if it’s only a few flights a week”.
Of the confirmed destinations, easyJet says: “For those looking for winter sun, both Fuerteventura and Malta could be contenders. Malta is famous for its beautiful beaches, located in the heart of the Mediterranean and therefore offers crystal clear seas to explore, while Fuerteventura offers more than 150 km of beaches with white sand and turquoise water.
“Berlin and Prague appear to appeal to those looking for a short city break or business trip, while Marrakech offers something unique and will certainly be popular with those looking for a vibrant and culturally rich experience.”
easyJet now operates seven aircraft from Liverpool, flying around 2 million passengers to 32 destinations every year.
