If you’re one of the eager beavers planning to get your hands on Apple’s latest software update as soon as possible, you might want to wait a while before downloading it.
The tech giant’s CEO Tim Cook announced earlier this week that iPhone users will soon have a host of new features at their fingertips when iOS 18 arrives.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard that the software update – which will be one of Apple’s “biggest ever” – will revolutionize the way we use our phones when it finally arrives.
Cook explained that iOS 18 will mark the debut of “Apple Intelligence,” which he described as a “personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad and Mac that combines the power of generative modeling with personal context to deliver intelligence that’s incredibly useful and relevant.” ‘ .
Apple has also struck a deal with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri, allowing users to type questions instead of just talking out loud to the digital assistant.
Siri is also reportedly getting a big upgrade in its language skills and the types of prompts it can respond to, while the new iOS will also give people the ability to lock and hide certain apps – which has been labeled a ‘cheater’s paradise’. those online.
This is all very exciting, but if you’re considering downloading the beta version of the update to get an edge over the rest, tech experts have warned you might be going too far.

Basically, beta versions of software are a pre-release of the program that is made available to people, usually developers, to try out under real-world conditions – essentially, these people are guinea pigs for the first versions of the new iOS.
It has already gone through rigorous testing to get to this point and is likely to look a lot like the final product, but the only thing is that you are likely to encounter bugs and other issues.
Developers have been testing the iOS 18 beta since Monday and it’s now available to iPhone users – as long as you’re enrolled in the developer program – but downloading this software while it’s still in a trial period could spell trouble for your Apple -device.
The company warns users that the beta update may contain bugs and other teething problems – which could cause issues like data loss or reduced performance – so ditching your current software for this could put your phone at risk.
Apple advises people to back up their devices before downloading the beta, but tech experts say you should try to avoid this altogether if you want to stay on the safe side.

Apparently, the issues likely to come with this version can cause your iPhone to become extremely slow, affect app operations, or even cause your device to crash.
So it’s best to just hold on until iOS 18 is tried and tested, and then all problems will be solved.
Cook said we can expect the release in fall 2024.
The public beta software will be available in July, which will be pretty much a finer-tuned version of the current one, but again, there is some risk involved.
These premature updates come with a ‘Feedback’ app that allows users to report the issues they encounter.
