The award-winning Cornish restaurant has been named one of the 20 best fish and chip shops in Britain by the Observer. Harbor Lights in Falmouth consistently delivers delicious food and deserves recognition as one of Britain’s best.
According to the Harbor Lights website, this eatery has won awards for its exceptional food since 2016. This restaurant calls fish and chips the ‘DNA of Britishness’ and strives to serve the highest quality and responsibly sourced produce.
This charming family business prioritizes all things Cornish. Their award-winning chips are made from the finest local potatoes, while the fish is caught from Newlyn. The best thing about this company is its eco-friendly ethos that encourages customers to try different species as it takes the pressure off the most popular fish and protects our oceans.

Not only has the Observer named this humble Cornish chippie the best, but ethical animal charity PETA has also scooped the leading spot for having ‘delectable tofu fish’ and ready-made homemade smoky jackfruit ‘fish’ cakes .”
PETA Director of Vegan Corporate Projects Dawn Carr said glowingly of the restaurant: “Harbour Lights’ fantastic vegan fish is a true catch that honors the sea without harming the animals that live there.”
Don’t just enjoy their signature chips as there are plenty of sides to choose from such as baked beans, mushy peas and gravy. Habour Lights prioritizes its community by also offering a children’s menu with a main course, drink and dessert for under £10.
The Observer has noted the “community interest in this Cornish chippie.” The reviewer also reported: “Local hake is celebrated; MSC-approved choices are highlighted.
