This weekend is full of showcases. Heaven or hell for anyone in the games industry, but overall a pretty good time for gamers. The main event is Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest, although Sunday’s Xbox Showcase will be a big day as we learn about the future of the hardware, the full reveal of Black Ops 6, and what’s in store for Project Latitude (business plan for multiplatform). .

We’ve written a comprehensive primer on everything you can expect this weekend and beyond.

Games you can expect at Summer Games Fest

Perhaps the biggest gaming event of the year, Keighley has confirmed that more than 50 companies will be showcasing their games this year:

Capcom’ recently spotted ‘MONSTER HUnter Wilds’ set to be one of the biggest reveals this year, and with last week’s PlayStation Showcase having revealed most of Sony’s games, attention will instead turn to several other studios.

For example, Sega just released the first five Mega Man games on Switch Online, while Team Cherry recently made Hollow Knight free for a week – perhaps in preparation for a surprise reveal for Silksong. Haha.

Netflix will be present, perhaps with some stuff on their Netflix Games program, while Wizards of the Coast will be present through the Magic: The Gathering brand. Unless they come and reveal something small for Arena, can we expect a new MTG game to come out?

The presence of Steam is also interesting.

Bandai will likely use their slot to remind us that DLC will be coming soon for a little title known as Elden Ring, while Devolver will have some interesting indies to show off. Blumhouse Games will be making their first appearance – you’ll recognize them as the studio behind Insidious and Paranormal Activity, among many other Hollywood horrors.

What happens during the Xbox Showcase

While Xbox has kept pretty quiet about what’s happening during the Xbox Showcase, the next Doom game will likely take center stage. The Verge’s Tom Warren thinks this will be one of two main games they’ll reveal during this showcase, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and a look at the first Starfield DLC are also in sight.

Halo: Combat Evolved will also reportedly make its way to PlayStation, so that would be worth a pretty big headline as well.
