Samsung is cutting the price of the Galaxy S24 in a major new promotion

After Apple launched a new discount offer this week, Samsung has joined in with a major sale of its own.

Samsung has made a lot of deals this year as it battles to get more people into its ecosystem. Whether that’s by handing out free Galaxy phones with TV purchases, or by giving away free Galaxy S24 storage upgrades. But the latest sale, which includes almost all phones released this year, is the biggest yet.

The sale is between 22% and 38% off on select Galaxy phones and lasts until June 4. The catch is that the promotion only applies to shoppers in Great Britain. If you’re a US buyer, Samsung’s free storage upgrade offer is now live, along with some improved trade-in prices.

As it stands now, Samsung has discounted the following devices.

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 | from £799 ($1018.09) to £499 ($635.83) (37% off)
  • Samsung Galaxy S24+ | from £999 ($1272.92) to £699 ($890.67) (30% off)
  • Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra | from £1,249 ($1591.47) to £949 ($1209.21) (24% discount)
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 | from £1,749 ($2228.57) to £1,349 ($1718.89) (22% discount)
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 | from £1,049 ($1336.63) to £649 ($826.96) (38% discount)
  • Samsung Galaxy A55 | from £439 ($559.37) to £289 ($368.24) (34% discount)
  • Samsung Galaxy A35 | from £339 ($431.95) to £239 ($304.53) (29% discount)
  • Samsung Galaxy A25 | from £249 ($317.28) to £169 ($215.34) (32% discount)

These are huge discounts, especially for the Galaxy S24 phones that only launched in January. Smartphone manufacturers tend to clear existing inventories to make room for a new device. Considering Samsung is gearing up for its summer Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris on July 10, where it will likely release the Galaxy Z Fold 6, this could explain these sudden, deep price cuts.

The US Samsung store has also kicked off its summer sale with some increased trade-in prices, which seems to be the trendiest way for manufacturers to boost sales. The Korean company is offering up to $500 in trade-in credit when you purchase the Galaxy Z Flip 5, in addition to an instant discount of $200. There’s a huge discount of $500 on the Z Fold 5, combined with up to $800 in a trade-in voucher.

Samsung is still offering the double storage offer on the Galaxy S24 range, with a trade-in credit of up to $750 for your old device (up to $600 when you purchase the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus, or $750 when you purchase the Ultra).

There are also improved trade-in prices for the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic, giving a maximum value of $200 and $250 off the final price respectively. But be quick if you have your eye on the smartwatch, because when I added both phones to my cart, Samsung said they were sold out. The Buds Pro have had $60 knocked off the final price, with another $50 off if you have some old earbuds to donate. But since Samsung could soon release the Buds Pro 3, this price will likely drop again and drastically.

Are these offers worth it?

There are some additional factors to consider before pulling the trigger on one of these deals. First, which phones have Samsung’s new Galaxy AI toolset? Only the A-series (A55, A35, A25) does not have the latest AI software from the Korean company. That may or may not change in the future, as Samsung has been adding certain AI features to older Galaxy phones in recent months. But the company is keeping tight-lipped about its plans for now.

The Galaxy S24 deals seem the most impressive to me, not least if you have an older phone to trade in, which can save up to £395 off the final price. The Samsung Shop App has also long offered a 5% discount for all starters when the code “APP5” is used.

It’s also worth pointing out that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is due out this summer, so if you want the latest version of Samsung’s foldable phone, hold off. The company will almost certainly reveal a pre-order deal alongside the device, so stay tuned.
