North Carolina gardener discovers mysterious space debris along hiking trail: ‘It didn’t come from here’

A glamping groundskeeper came across a bizarre space object along a remote trail in the mountains of North Carolina.

Justin Clontz and a colleague were doing maintenance around the Glamping Collective, a luxury campground in Haywood County, when he was “shocked” to find the massive object covered in dense metal plates held together by unearthly-looking bolts.

“It’s a once in a lifetime thing, you know, it doesn’t happen every day,” Clontz told WLOS.

The strange object appeared to be covered in burned carbon fiber, is about an inch thick, and is almost four feet tall, according to the outlet.

“We don’t know what it is. All we know is it’s not from here,” Clontz said.

The men were forced to lift the heavy object by tying a lawnmower and a rope.

“There’s a one in a million chance it lands, especially if it lands somewhere off the trail in the woods, you would never have found it, but it just happened to land on the trail,” Clontz said.

Although the object itself appears to have been burned, Clontz said the surrounding area showed no sign of damage, raising even more questions about how the mysterious piece of metal ended up deep in the forest.

Clontz said no one at the glamping site reported hearing any unusual noises.

A similar-looking charred piece of debris was discovered in February in a farmer’s field in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Experts speculate that the object could have fallen to Earth from SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft, according to Space.com.

SpaceX has not confirmed whether the object found in Canada came from their spacecraft.

However, soil tracking of Crew Dragon’s “trunk,” which was re-entered in February, suggests it could have come from the pioneering space technology company, the outlet reported.

Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer and astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, told the paper that areas from Tennessee to Virginia and West Virginia are most likely to be impact zones for Crew Dragon debris.

It cannot be ruled out that North Carolina may be an area where the debris could have fallen.

In March, an airline passenger claimed she saw a possible UFO hovering over the Big Apple during a commercial flight over LaGuardia Airport.

She claimed that another person on the flight saw the alien object and was stunned.

The states with the most UFO sightings in 2023 were California (440), Florida (293), Texas (230), Washington (212) and New York (156), according to the National UFO Reporting Center.

Lincoln County, Nevada, saw the most UFO sightings of any U.S. county between 2000 and 2023, at 820.9 per 100,000 residents, the nonprofit reported.
