Fabulous’ favorite bottles of roses revealed – just in time for National Wine Day

THIS Saturday is National Wine Day, and it would be rude not to raise a glass in celebration.

With a bank holiday just around the corner and some sunshine on the way (fingers crossed), it’s the perfect time to welcome in the Rose Age.

New research from Spanish rose brand Castillo de Ibiza recently confirmed that a breathtaking sunset boosts the experience of drinking a glass of rose, as it enhances and enriches your senses.

These rose tips are perfect for the golden hour, whether for a girly drink before heading out, to pair with a family barbecue or just to have a cheeky wine after work in the backyard.

Pink plonk is no longer sugary sweet either: you’ll find pale, dry rose, stunning English sparkling wine, a brand new blend going viral and even a prosecco-inspired rose cider, all at great prices.

Cheers to that!

I admit that I was seduced by the beautiful bottle and extremely pale color of this Spanish rose, and it did not disappoint.

Wonderfully dry, without that burning sensation in the back of your throat that you get with some wines, I found it really drinkable, with a berry aftertaste that left me wanting more.

If I didn’t know any different, I’d say it was a much more expensive wine than it actually is.

I’ve only really started enjoying pale pink this past year, after being a huge fan of the sweeter Zinfandel variety.

And this Argentinian organic vino really hit the mark: it was very light and super easy to drink, and didn’t leave too much aftertaste, which I prefer.

With aromas of fresh berries and a hint of juicy watermelon, it is the perfect wine to enjoy on a sunny day.

And the best thing is: a whole bottle for myself ensured that I didn’t get a dry mouth or wine headache in the morning – results!

It only cost ten euros and I will definitely buy it again.

TikTok has gone crazy for Aldi’s unusual pink-orange hybrid wine, and the store shifted 5,000 bottles in its first week of sales – and I totally understand the hype!

Firstly, how beautiful is the bottle – that versatile design and orange label gives a ‘Mediterranean holiday’ vibe – and it matches my hair, so what’s not to love?

Taste-wise, it’s really a bit rose and a bit orange (apparently a mix of tangerine, quinca and apricot), which is reminiscent of a flat Aperol spritz, and is mainly on the drier end of the wine spectrum, rather than sickly sweet are.

All in all, it’s the perfect drink for a sunny day, when you’ve had too much of the rose and are looking for a change.

And of course, it’s a great first step toward orange wine, which will also be huge this season.

I usually go for a great value prosecco or cava when I’m in the shop, so it’s so nice to find an affordable British sparkling wine near me in Kent.

Beautifully light and fruity, this mix of three grapes tastes fresh and refined.

I would definitely buy this again – it’s perfect for all the backyard gatherings I have on my calendar this summer.

I’ve been experiencing booze-free periods since 2021, so I’ve tried a lot of non-alcoholic wines in my time.

While there’s nothing better than enjoying a cold wine on a sunny day, the struggle to find something non-alcoholic in a beer garden is real – but this prosecco from Kylie Minogue will make you feel happy, happy, happy.

Non-alcoholic wines of yesteryear are known for being too sweet, but not this one: the spicy, yet fruity flavor will get your taste buds swirling.

Now you don’t have to miss all those joyful prosecco moments – and all without a hangover.

Beauty writer Mia Lyndon tested Sandford Orchards Katja Rose Martinotti Style Cider, £62 for six – BUY NOW

If you’re not a wine drinker, this could be for you – and for me, as I love cider on a hot day – as this rose cider is made in the style of a prosecco.

Green-fingered legend Alan Titchmarsh has called it “a lovely lunchtime picnic drink”, and I’m inclined to agree – I expected it to have a sweet, sugary, sickly taste, but it was actually very pleasant and refreshing.

There’s a slight sparkle to it, which was all the excuse we needed to dust off the champagne flutes, which made it feel even more chic!

The vegan and gluten-free cider is crisp and lightweight (and is very tasty and easy to drink), plus fruity, red berry notes alongside crunchy pink lady apples and a hint of cotton candy – delicious!

Ways to spend less at a supermarket

Grocery inflation means we’re all in trouble, but shopping with these points in mind can save you hundreds of dollars a year:

  • Avoid shopping at convenience stores – they charge more
  • Ask in the store at which times of the day fresh food products are reduced in price
  • Freeze yellow sticker items where you can
  • Plan meals ahead
  • Try private label or budget brand alternatives
  • Use unit pricing to find the best deals
