More rumored spec leaks give an indication of how the Nintendo Switch 2 will perform compared to the PlayStation 4

It’s been over seven years since the Nintendo Switch was released on March 3, 2017. Since then, the Nintendo Switch has sold over 141 million units worldwide, establishing itself as the third best-selling console after the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS.





Unfortunately, it seems like Nintendo isn’t quite ready to release details about the Nintendo Switch successor, even though we’re getting closer. Earlier this month, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa told fans that they will make an announcement about their next console within this fiscal year, but we shouldn’t expect this announcement to happen during the next Nintendo Direct which will take place in June.









Nintendo’s fiscal year is known to run from April 1 to March 31. This means that we should finally have details about the Switch successor confirmed sometime before March 31, 2025.


However, we have heard a lot of rumors about the new console. Since it is widely suggested that the successor is intended as a direct upgrade to the Nintendo Switch, fans have often referred to this mysterious console as the ‘Nintendo Switch 2’.


Centro Leaks recently rounded up everything rumored about the Nintendo Switch 2. While it should come as no surprise that the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be as powerful as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series, consoles released about four years ago , the implementation of DLSS will give the new console comparable image quality.


Additionally, the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. NVDIA’s T239 processor, a variant of the T234 processor made specifically for this rumored Nintendo console, will allow the console to run with virtually no load times.


The T239 is rumored to have a maximum memory bandwidth of 102.4 GB/s, although Nintendo may clock this bandwidth down for improved efficiency. This is a significant improvement over the Nintendo Switch’s 25.6 GB/s memory bandwidth.


The PlayStation 4 is said to have 8GB of RAM. It should be noted that the PlayStation 4 has 500GB of internal storage and 176GB/s of memory bandwidth, both of which are greater than the Nintendo Switch 2’s rumored specs.


Theoretically, this could indicate that the PlayStation 4 would have better loading times than the Nintendo Switch 2, but the aforementioned DLSS technology could actually give the Nintendo Switch 2 unique advantages.


An advanced version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was rumored to be shown behind closed doors on the Switch successor as a tech demo. This tech demo reportedly ran at a higher frame rate and resolution.


Additionally, we learned that “The Matrix Awakens,” a tech demo originally created for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series to showcase the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, was also making an appearance on the new console.


Presumably, the Nintendo Switch 2 will offer 4K support when docked and 1080p in handheld mode, which will have an 8-inch LCD screen. This is an improvement over the Switch’s 6.2-inch screen.


Factors such as CPU speed and refresh rate are still unknown, but a rumor suggests that Nintendo may be preparing first-party games that will play at 240 frames per second.




There’s still a lot unknown about the Nintendo Switch 2, but these rumors suggest it will be a significantly more powerful console than the Nintendo Switch. Thanks to Nvidia’s DLSS technology, the console’s performance appears to be more comparable to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series than the PlayStation 4.
