EA’s new Battlefield announcement was met with huge reactions

During an earnings call for Electronic Arts, CEO Andrew Wilson said the new Battlefield entry will be “another great live service” – and gamers have let out collective groans on social media.

On a live service, new content is released regularly after launch, with premium content usually only accessible through a higher subscription level or payment, to keep players playing the game for as long as possible.

The Battlefield franchise was huge in the late 2000s and early 2010s Battlefield: bad company entries and the third and fourth numbered releases.

It seems like fans have been calling for games in the series to return to how they were when they were seemingly at their peak, but it seems like they’ve been left disappointed by the latest announcement.

Wilson is reported by Insider gamingas said, “This is the biggest Battlefield team in franchise history.

“A few weeks ago I was visiting the teams and I couldn’t be more excited about what they showed and what we were able to play.

‘I’ve just spent a lot of time with the collective Battlefield team will play what they are building and it will be another great live service.”

While a live service is fairly common in modern multiplayer games, this doesn’t seem to be the case Battlefield The community is excited about this, considering what has happened to it Battlefield 2042.

Geoff Keighley, who has 1.5 million followers on X/Twitter, shared the news on the social media platform and the response was overwhelmingly negative.

Battlefield is EA’s competitor for the Duty franchise – it is a multiplayer first-person shooter created by developer Dice, in which players improve their rank, weapons and battle pass to get better rewards.

Duty has more of an arcade feel while Battlefield feels more realistic, but it’s not without its own high-octane stunts.

Battlefield 2042 released in 2021 and is the latest installment, although EA confirmed in March this year that no new seasons would be released when Season 7 came into effect so that all efforts could be put into developing a new installment.

It’s had a bit of a rough life – at launch it had a number of bugs and glitches, including the game being completely unplayable, which EA eventually ironed out over the months that followed.

Duty normally gives players a month or two before releasing new content during seasons – but it took Dice seven months to release the first season for Battlefield 2042 while these problems were resolved.

There have been some gameplay improvements, but after such a tricky launch it seemed like a lot of players and support had been lost – some gamers on social media say there isn’t a good Battlefield game since Battlefield 1 released in 2016 (Battlefield 5 And Battlefield 2042 have since been released).
